Camp Grizz

SCOPE
Designed as a weekend retreat for Emily Tucker and her family, Camp Grizz is a ground-up home nestled on nearly eight acres of pine forest in Ward, Colorado. Drawing on her architectural training, Emily designed the home to welcome generations of family and friends—a place for gathering, slowing down, and creating lasting memories.

As both architect and interior designer, Emily approached the project as a rare opportunity to bring years of collected inspiration to life. Free from the constraints of client expectations, she embraced a joyful palette of rich color and unexpected details, including an eggplant kitchen, a cherry-red bunk room, ochre tile, and mustard-painted window trim. Rather than mirroring the landscape, the interiors were intentionally designed to have a distinct identity, creating a vibrant counterpoint to the quiet beauty of the surrounding forest.

Inspired by a childhood in California and years spent designing homes in New York, Camp Grizz reflects Emily's belief that a home should tell the story of the people who live there. The result is a deeply personal retreat that celebrates creativity, connection, and the simple joy of being together.
